GraphicFusion Design Goes Global!: International Web Design

penninckx.jpghttp://www.penninckx.com/ was a step in GFD history.  This was a great web design project that came to us from around the world.  A plant nursary in Belgium found us online and decided that they had to work with us.  This company had seen our work on Arid Plant Designs website and had felt compelled to call.  We were more than happy to navigate the time and language barriers presented by this type of work to produce a site that we were both very happy with.

The Next 5000 Days of the Internet
The Entire Internet From the TED talks:  We saw an interesting video that is relevant to what we do here by creating your window to the World Wide Web.  The Web as we know it has only been around for about 5000 days.  This talk given by Kevin Kelly is about what we might see in the next 5000 days.  Very Interesting ideas and views on the near future and how we will interact with it.   Let us know what you think.

Textures and Patterns Design Showcase

The reason why we don’t see them is because they usually remain in the background, supporting the overall design, replacing a standard background color and creating a more inviting atmosphere.

But they almost never stand out. Used primarily for background images, they need to fit to the overall design making the content easier to perceive. In fact, wood textures seem to have become so popular that designers suggest that wood is the new glossy style and wood is the new white.

ringsIn the spirit of the Olympic season, we found you a great guide to watching the olypmic coverage you would like to see online.  The guys over at Valleywag outline a great set of options for how to get the coverage you are looking for when you want it.  A couple of the options can get pretty technical, but they outline step by step for you and a few of the options are simple as pie.  Check it out and enjoy the games.

Wanokoto Labs Ages Your Digital Photos for You
gfd_old.jpg The website at Wanokoto Labs converts a file or image url you upload to look like came from a 100 year old newspaper.  Just upload your pic or point the converter to the image you’re looking at and presto.  With one click of the button and a couple seconds of waiting you’ve got an image from your grandfathers old paper newspaper.  If you browse through their gallery you’ll note a lot of really impressive image results.  Looks like Photoshop isn’t the only way to get this effect anymore.  Try it out with one of your pics and post it here.  Best pic gets a free coke!
