Flash is no longer a No-No for SEO

With Flash, designers can create some incredible work with movies pictures and other art work. for a designer that works in only one media and isnt neccessarily very web-savvy, Flash provides all the tools neccessary to package a beautiful looking website and set it up online. The problem has been that google cannot index any text in flash and therefore flash websites were hidden in the abyss of unindexed web content, like small islands of beautifully crafted content that noone could find in the sea of the internet. Well Google has just changed that, but dont go rushing to force your desinger into flash only just yet...
on the Google Blog , they announced that they can now index textual content in flash websites, and this is great news for anyone who has had a flash website. The un-written rule of Search Engine Optimization in web-design has always been "Say no to flash.", but with this new announcement my gut tells me that the rule has changed to "Say no to flash... most of the time." The reason I say this is because Google's older algorithms have been scrutinized much more and hold more weight, so the fact that they can now read flash is great, but why work with something that will work marginally well when you can get many of the same effects with better means in relation to Google's spiders? If you are still interested in using a large amount of Flash and doing SEO read this article for some guidelines and best practices.
